2008 Convention Blog
A Paperless Convention (almost)
A goal of this year’s convention was to go as paperless as possible. Delegates were encouraged to bring laptops along. Powerstrips are available to plug them in at every table. NELHS has provided high speed wireless internet to all delegates.
Devotions
One of the highlights of any conference or convention is the opportunity to worship together. The devotions at this year’s district convention have made use of orders of worship that will be included in Christian Worship Supplement which will be released this summer. These orders of worship have featured parts of Luther’s Large Catechism.

Technical Difficulties
Due to technical difficulties, the assembly is taking a 5 minute break. We will resume with Prof. Nass's paper shortly. Don't turn the channel - we will be right back.
Ministry - is it you?
The Question / Answer session following the report by {Prof. Thomas Nass (MLC) focused on the different forms of ministry. Referencing a time when the WELS ordained teachers for the tax benefits, and the reversal of that decision after confusion and misunderstanding of the ministry that the men were being called to occurred, he pointed out that there are groups that are fearful of losing the need for a pastor, shepherding a group of christians, while at the same time other groups are worried about legalizing the roles of different people serving in various ways in the Church. I recommend reading Prof. Nass' report when it is made available on-line.
Is the election committee working for you?
My thought is the elections committee has done a phenominal job staying on task. This is evident by their outstanding leadership of their chairman, Corey Pederson. Great job gentlemen.
Professor Nass Paper
This paper has been very interesting!!!! You can really see the importance of staying in the Word and strengthening one another with God's Word.

Preparations
The preparations for the Summer's District Convention (June 9-11 at NELHS) are in full swing. We are striving to save a few trees and hopefully a lot of time by going to a paperless convention. It will be a challenge, but an exciting one. Hopefully delegates and congregations will take advantage of the new On-Line registration!
